Job Opportunities

Freelance, Part-time and full time jobs

There are some differences between freelance full and part time jobs for example a full time job would have  scheduled hours on when you will be working, you would also be earning a set salary each month and you would also have the right to be paid for sick days and your pension would be sorted out by the company, Part time is basically the same as full time, the only real difference is that you work half the hours of a full time employment, Freelance however is opposite to these with the advantage of being your own boss giving you the freedom to choose what projects you work on and what hours you would work, whoever being freelance means you have to work out  all of your pension although you can set your own fee this means if you are worth it you could potentially make a lot of money.

Film
There is a huge range of jobs within the film creative sector one of the lowest on the ladder is a

Areas Of Media

Creative

The creative area of media is where most ideas for an actual production come from/are generated. People who work in the creative area of media start makign a production with an idea, it could be any idea whether absurb or not, their idea is then subjected to changes as the production process goes on this could be in the form of somones better idea or limitations that might be placed upon it, obviolsuy no idea is completly perfect. an example of a job in the creative area of media could be a script writer somone whois either the creative force behind a project or someone who is working off what ideas the creator of the project has and they just translate it into a script. Jobs in the creative area are perhaps some of the most impotant jobs as they are the minds that think up the ideas that go behind a production and they are the people who have to have the contacts to make a production happen.

Technical

The technical area of media involves all the jobs that actually make the production, they are ones who 'make' it happen, anothe rimportant role of course but not quite as important as a creative job, an example of a job in the technical area of media would be a operator of a camera, obviously this job is essential to the production as they are trained to use the high tech cameras when recording a production, another technical job would be the person who has the job of boom operator, they habe to work carefully with the camera opertator as they don't want the boom to be in shot or the person in general, as this would ruin that take and they would have to redo it, these jobs are also the mot well known and sought after as they can both lead up to high end jobs in the media industry such as sound editor or Director of photography.

Editing
The editing area of media is almost self explanitory, someone who has a job as an editor will useually be workign on final pieces of the production that have been assigned to them whether a film or sound editior their roles are to cut out all the unessacary parts of the production, this could be messed up takes etc, a sound editor will be somone who works on the sounds that were assigned to them, as captured by the boom  operators and onsite sound engineers, the video editor is someone who has to work very closley witht he director as they are helping set the tone in some of the scenes and the theme of the film. Someone who works in the editorial area of media will obviously have to be familiar with ediitng software and must also be working at a professional level.

Marketing

The marketing area of media is for when the production is being made or is finished, the job of the marketing sector is to sell the production advertising wise, they need to draw as much attention to the production because the more attention it gets the more potential money can be made, someone in the marketing area might go to potential distributing companies and try and convince them to distribute the film under their name or to invest in the film and sell it on, another big part is the different jobs of creating merchandise this can equate to some huge profits if the film is a suceess, before brands can be made a ton of researchhas toi be done into the market to see where they can fit there film in in order to gain the maximum amount of profits to make sure there budget is covered.

Managing

A managing role within the managing area of the creative sectors would be making sure that every other employee is on point and doing their job, it doesn't matter whether they were a film editor or a camera operator the manager for that sector would have to make sure that they were doing their job correctly. They are also in charge of the mass organisation of a production, this means they have a big job to do. This task is one of the main reasons that a person with a managerial position will have a rather large salary compared to other jobs in that sector, however this comes at a price because if the production is a failure then they will take the full blame as it is their job to watch everyone, this means if the project is messed up the blame can't be fully be on the person or people who made the mistake as they are supposed to be monitored by the person in the managerial position.

Administrative

The Administrative sector in media is all the paperwork and running of the sector. This is a necessary sector as a whole project can fall to pieces if someone is not there to do all the written work. There are lots of reports that need to be written up on most of the other sectors in media to help make sure that everything is going to plan. The administrators in media help to make sure there are no problems with a production as they can keep everything recorded making it easy for them to find a source of a problem and stop it getting in the way of the production. The administrative jobs are one that not many people aspire to do however for that reason they generally pay well and are not too hard to get.

Legal
The legality of things in the areas of media are extremely important. If the legal areas are all kept in order then the production company is basically safe from any legal action if they are not safe they are risking some major damages to not only their reputation but their money, One of the laws that is most important to take note of when involved in a media production is copyright. If something copyrighted is used then the company or person could be in danger of being sued for a lot of money. A job in the legal ares of media would mainly consist of ensuring everything is perfectly legal and no employee is breaking any rules and everything is safe from legal action. They also deal with legal problems caused during production like saftey regulation breaches where someone was hurt and intends to sue, they have to ensure that the saftey regulations are adhered to in order to avoid legal action taken against them

Financial
Somone who has a job in the financial sector are people who deal with the monetary side of a production, this production could be in any area of the creative media sector. They will be the ones who come up with an appropriate budget that lets others know how much money should be spent on what things. It is also important that the company does not go bankrupt. This is when they run out of money. Someone who is involved in finance must make sure that they have some money left over in case of any problems that occur during the process. The jobs in the financial part of media have to ensure that they use budgeting techniques but still retaining the quality of the things they use it for, this works in the marketing part as they want to set a budget on how much to spend when creating merchandise or a franchise.
